Jeanne W. Anderson
39th Judicial Circuit
Jeanne W. Anderson was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School, the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Law receiving a Juris Doctorate. Judge Anderson was a law clerk for the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals and was an Assistant Alabama Attorney General in Montgomery. She worked as a law clerk for the District Courts of Morgan County before serving as Assistant District Attorney for Limestone County for eight years.
Judge Anderson is married to Limestone County native John Anderson and they have two children. They attend the First United Methodist Church of Athens.
Judge Anderson was appointed District Judge in 1991 and elected as District Judge in 1992. Subsequently, she was reelected in 1998 and 2004. She is currently serving as vice president of the Alabama District Court Judges Association. She is the Juvenile Court Judge for Limestone County hearing juvenile delinquency and dependency cases. She also is assigned child support cases and misdemeanor and traffic cases.

Jerry L. Batts
39th Judicial Circuit
Judge Jerry L. Batts grew up on a farm in the Ripley Community of Limestone County Alabama. He graduated from Clements High School. He received his B.A Degree from Auburn University and his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law.
His Judicial responsibilities include:
- All civil actions not exceeding $10,000.00, exclusive of interest and costs
- Preliminary hearings in felony cases
- Felony Drug Court
- State Trooper, Conservation and Marine Police cases.
He has been actively involved in various professional, civic and charitable organizations. He was in private law practice for 26 years until his election to the office of District Judge of Limestone County in 2004.
He and his wife, Marilyn, have two daughters, Allison and Lauren. They are members of First United Methodist Church in Athens.
Driving Directions:
From I-65 take exit 351 at traffic light turn (left) going west on US Hwy 72, 1.9 miles, turn right at traffic light going north on Jefferson St., 0.9 miles the Limestone County Courthouse on the right in the center of downtown Athens.
