     The District Attorney of the 39th Judicial Circuit is the Chief Law Enforcement Official in Limestone County who represents the people of the State of Alabama in prosecuting all felony and some misdemeanor criminal cases which occur within Limestone County. He employs a staff to support him in his duties which are specifically enumerated by Alabama Law. The District Attorney and his Assistants are prohibited by law from giving legal advice to the general public or acting on any private legal matter. Legal consultation with the District Attorney is limited to victims and witnesses who are involved with criminal cases pending in Limestone County. The District Attorney's office works closely with every component of law enforcement and the courts to seek justice for crime victims in Limestone County. For their own protection, criminal defendants are strongly advised not to contact the District Attorney's Office, except through counsel.

     To report a crime, you should contact your local law enforcement agency. If you are in need of emergency law enforcement assistance in the Limestone County area, help can be obtained by dialing 911. Crimes should be reported directly to local law enforcement agencies to ensure that they are properly investigated. If warranted, that agency will then bring the case to the District Attorney's office for prosecution

     From I-65 take exit 351 at traffic light turn (left) going west on US Hwy 72, 1.9 miles, turn right at traffic light going north on Jefferson St., 0.9 miles the Limestone County Courthouse on the right in the center of downtown Athens.
